Pretty In Pastel

London based designer Olivia Rubin graduated from world-renowned fashion college Central Saint Martens with praise for her printed designs in her standout graduate collection which won her attention from the press. The attention around her collection lead to Rubin designing for leading fashion houses Alexander McQueen, Dior and John Galliano in Paris where she was designing prints for Galliano’s womenswear collections. After taking a short break to focus on her family, Rubin launched her own self-titled brand in 2019 at a pop-up shop in Selfridges followed by another pop-up in Harrods and a spot to showcase at London Fashion week in the same year. The brand has since gained global recognition after Rubin’s iconic sequin skirt went viral and the brand became a favourite among celebrities like Holly Willoughby, Ferne Cotton and Eva Chen.

Olivia Rubin is known for her unique take on modern femininity with a signature look in pastel and rainbow hues. The brand’s designs are widely recognisable because of it’s joyful use of colours in sorbet and sugary-pink ombré designs. The collections usually consist of best-selling dresses in bright coloured prints, Rubin’s iconic candy coloured loungewear and bold knit co-ord sets with multi-colour sequins and embellishments.

‘Colourful, happy, feminine collections. I want to design pieces that make you feel good from wearing them and looking at them. I don’t take fashion too seriously; for me it is about experimentation and having fun.’

Summer ’21

This summer season Olivia Rubin brings us a new collection full of her iconic colours and patterns. Patchwork is a running theme throughout this collection with designs in contrasting navy and pastel coloured prints. Comfort is key this season as Rubin brings us midi-length dresses with frilled sleeves and hems in cotton and silk which are ideal for the humid weather in look and feel. The collection also includes some alternative knits with statement cardigans like our sequin knitted Mika cardigans which can be mixed and matched with knitted joggers for ultimate comfort. Rubin brings us the patchwork denim jacket Juilia and silk co-ords Sammy & Molly as something a little different this season. If you love pastels and knits or just something a little more alternative then this may be the brand for you this summer.
