“The Woman Who Fell to Earth”
Baum und Pferdgarten was founded in Copenhagen in 1999 by Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave. The duo began their creative journey when they graduated from the Royal Danish academy of design with the vision to inspire women to tell their own story through the clothing they wear. Baumgarten and Hestehave look at the Baum und Pferdgarten woman as someone who stands out from the crowd and have continuously pushed each other through their long-standing partnership to create new and innovative designs to suit their muse. The brand is design-lead with timeless pieces both casual and formal in beautiful fabrics, creative prints and a playful contrast of colour. The brand has continued to grow as one of the leading Danish fashion houses with unique and memorable pieces that can be mixed and matched to suit every occasion.
“We want to create designs for women who want to have fun with their personal expression. Our collections can be worn in many different ways by many different women. We create clothes that help women tell their own story.”
Creative Directors, Helle Hestehave and Rikke Baumgarten.
Responsibility
Baum und Pferdgarten are considerate to both our planet and it’s people when designing and making the clothes we love to wear. The brand promises to focus it’s attention on sustainability, being transparent and giving insight into the measures they take to be more mindful of the resources they use. They have outlined their eco-friendly goals and commitments for the future and how they strive to achieve them, starting with creating designs that go beyond next season’s trends. Baum und Pferdgarten makes us feel good inside and out.
“The Woman Who Fell to Earth”
We were literally inspired by this idea of a woman falling to Earth with no references to normality or idea about how to fit in. We see her as a free spirit and a trailblazer.”
Rikke Baumgarten & Helle Hestehave, Creative Directors
This summer Baum und Pferdgarten brings us the collection “The Woman Who Fell to Earth” which takes it’s name from the 1976 movie “The Man Who Fell to Earth” starring David Bowie. The collection investigates what it means to be human in today’s increasingly digital world and the idea of a woman falling to Earth from space with no idea how to fit in. This season the brand encourages self-expression and confidence with a balance of muted tones and pops of vibrant colours in honeysuckle pink and gumdrop green. The collection also includes some playful prints in polka-dots, stripes and the collection’s signature ‘Cosmo’ print as seen on the Ajani dress. There are endless possibilities when it comes to styling this collection both casually and formally, simply incorporate these pieces into your existing wardrobe and style with trainers or heels to accomplish your desired look. Baum und Pferdgarten is the perfect balance of alternative and wearable with plenty of options and something to suit everyone.
